Wine Picks – September 2012

Chef at work shelling peas

Now that the summer is winding down, we will spend alot more time tasting wines and finding more jewels for Coho’s list and cellar specials.  Here are a few new wines that we sampled recently that really stood out:

à Maurice, 2009 Viognier, Columbia Valley, WA, white peach, honey suckle and oak on the nose with peaches and almonds on the finish.  $25.00

Corvus, 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla, WA, Bordeaux-style blend with black cherry notes along with a bit of smokiness on the finish. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc) $19.00

Cannonball, 2009 Merlot, Napa, CA, feminine and understated merlot with black and blueberries on the nose with a bit of cinnamon spice on the finish. This wine is less of a ‘cannonball’ but more of a ‘swan dive.’ $17.00
