Wine Picks โ€“ September 2012

Chef at work shelling peas

Now that the summer is winding down, we will spend alot more time tasting wines and finding more jewels for Cohoโ€™s list and cellar specials.  Here are a few new wines that we sampled recently that really stood out:

ร  Maurice, 2009 Viognier, Columbia Valley, WA, white peach, honey suckle and oak on the nose with peaches and almonds on the finish.  $25.00

Corvus, 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla, WA, Bordeaux-style blend with black cherry notes along with a bit of smokiness on the finish. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc) $19.00

Cannonball, 2009 Merlot, Napa, CA, feminine and understated merlot with black and blueberries on the nose with a bit of cinnamon spice on the finish. This wine is less of a โ€˜cannonballโ€™ but more of a โ€˜swan dive.โ€™ $17.00
